What is the GoChronos ID Generator?

The GoChronos ID Generator creates unique identifiers in multiple formats: UUID v4 (random), UUID v7 (time-ordered), ULID, NanoID, CUID and custom-length random strings. Useful for database primary keys, authentication tokens and test data.

What is the difference between UUID v4 and UUID v7?

UUID v4 is completely random with no time component. UUID v7 encodes a Unix millisecond timestamp in its most-significant bits, making generated IDs naturally sortable by creation time — ideal for database primary keys where index locality matters.

ULID (Universally Unique Lexicographically Sortable Identifier) is a 128-bit identifier whose first 10 characters encode the current Unix timestamp in milliseconds. ULIDs sort lexicographically in creation order and are URL-safe, unlike UUIDs.
