Do I need an account or an email address?

No. There is no sign-up on GoChronos. Your PDF is opened by the browser tab you are already in, and nothing is uploaded to a server.

Is this a qualified electronic signature?

No, and you should not describe it as one. A drawn or typed signature is an image stamped onto the page. The certificate option produces a genuine cryptographic PKCS#7 signature, but whether that meets any particular legal standard depends on your jurisdiction and on who issued the certificate. A certificate you generated yourself will not qualify.

What certificate files can I use?

A PKCS#12 bundle with a .p12 or .pfx extension, holding an RSA private key. If the bundle uses an EC or other key type, the dialog tells you that only RSA signing is supported and the Sign button stays disabled.

Can I edit the PDF after signing it with a certificate?

Not without breaking the signature. The signature covers every byte of the file except its own container, so any later change invalidates it. That is why the editor applies all your pending edits first and signs the finished bytes last.

Where is my saved signature kept?

In the localStorage of the browser you drew it in, as a small transparent PNG. Up to six are kept and the oldest is dropped after that. Clearing site data removes them, and they are never sent anywhere.
