Do my photos get uploaded anywhere?

No. Both tools decode, process and encode the image inside the browser tab. The background remover fetches its segmentation model file once, and you can pin that with the "Save model for offline" button, after which nothing touches the network. There is no account and no sync.

Which countries and sizes are covered?

Nine presets: United States, United Kingdom, Schengen Area / EU, India, Canada, Australia, Japan, China and a generic ICAO Doc 9303 entry that covers most other countries. They come in four shapes, from 33 by 48 mm for China to 50 by 70 mm for Canada. There is also a "Custom size..." option where you type width, height and the head-height range in millimetres.

Should I use the AI background remover for a US passport photo?

No. The tool's own note for the United States preset points out that the State Department explicitly disallows AI-touched-up submissions. For a US passport or visa, photograph yourself against a plain white or off-white wall and use only the crop step.

Why did my careful framing jump back to the centre?

Because the crop is pinned to the target aspect ratio, it resets to a centred best fit whenever that ratio changes, which most preset switches do. Rotating the photo has the same effect. Choose the country and fix the orientation first, then frame.

How many copies fit on one sheet?

It depends on the spec and the paper. A 35 by 45 mm photo fits six copies on a 4 by 6 inch sheet and thirty on A4. A 51 by 51 mm US photo fits two on 4 by 6 and fifteen on A4. The tool prints the exact count next to the paper selector before you download.
